Wednesday, 23rd July

Yesterday (Tuesday), we walked from Hay-on-Wye to Llanvihangel. We walked up a very steep incline, but were rewarded at the top by some spectacular views of Herefordshire. We slept in a 14th century CofE church, next to the graveyard, so I was thankful to no longer be on my own! The 12th century local inn used to double as a court room, and people caught stealing sheep would be hanged from the stair-case railing!
Phil, Luke and I are now in Monmouth, which is a very interesting town. We enjoyed looking at Monmouth Bridge, which is the only remaining medieval bridge in Britain. Monmouth is also home to the White Castle, which was the birth-place of Henry V in 1387.
We are all healthy and happy and will soon be leaving the welsh hills behind us.
