Tuesday, 22nd July

After conquering my journey today, I spent a bit of time resting in Wales' Oldest Inn - The Skirrid Inn. Some interest from locals and passers-by throughout the day, with the common question of 'Are you doing that walk now!?'. I am staying in the parish church in Llanvihangel Crucorney tonight, just north of Abergavenny. I'm certainly covering some distance! Tomorrow, my journey continues to Monmouth ...

Monday 21st June

Rest day in Hay-On-Wye today. Of all things to do, I took a leisurely stroll to cover 4 miles of tomorrow's walk (to make it a little easier)! Then, I spent some time looking around the shops in the town. Weather is still wonderful!
I was delighted to see an article about "End to End" on the Nazarene Church website. Read it here; http://www.ncnnews.com/nphweb/html/ncn/article.jsp?id=10013811&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ncnnews+%28Nazarene+Communications+Network+News%29

Saturday, 19th July

Yesterday (Friday), I reached Knighton. Luke has returned home to attend a family wedding (we made it to the train station for him to catch his train home, with only 6 minutes to spare!) He will join me again on Sunday. So, for today, I have been walking on my own, for the first time since this adventure began.
Along the way, on my walk to Kington today, I stopped at The Stag Inn. The staff and management there were extremely helpful and generous. I enjoyed a great meal and a lovely cup of tea. I even received an unexpected proposal of marriage. Don't worry, Ruth, I politely declined.
Many thanks to my wonderful host for this evening, Maureen Weston.

Friday, 18th July

Unfortunately, Phil suffered with extreme blisters and bravely struggled on for two days. However, yesterday morning he made the sensible decision to go home and repair his feet. The good news is that he hopes to return and join us on Monday. Good on you Phil.
Luke and I have continued walking and have had to go through some fields of COWS! Anyone who knows me well will understand how much of a challenge that was for me! Not sure who was supporting who, but we made it!
Yesterday, we reached Mainstone, which is a very tiny place surrounded by beautiful countryside. We stayed with Miriam Ellison in her highly recommended B & B 'New House Farm'. Thank you, Miriam, for your generous hospitality.

We have now walked on from Chester to  a small Welsh village called Penycae. We stayed at the Nazarene church manse and enjoyed spending time talking with the people there. I had a rest day on the Monday at Penycae, Carl Lauren and Rebekah were able to come down and spend a couple of hours with me so once again I have enjoyed being able to spend some time with my family. At this point Brian returned home and Luke and Phil joined me.
Tuesday we set off on Offa's Dyke path and walked in and out of wales along the rolling hills and eventually reached Oswestry to stay in the Methodist church, thank you so much for the wonderful Shepherd's pie. In the evening we had a leisurely stroll around the town, saw the ruined Oswestry castle and enjoyed a bag of chips!(Fries) As we walk along the dyke path we see views of the river Severn and have to tackle some quite steep hills.
I must just mention Chris Horton, the manager of Shrewsbury Arms near Frodsham, he very kindly opened his establishment just for us and provided us with tea and biscuits, thanks Chris

Saturday, 12th July

Arrived in Chester today. For those who don't know, Chester is a beautiful, Roman, walled city, with many Roman ruins still remaining. Some family and friends drove over to spend the afternoon in the city with us. Lovely to spend time with them before I head down towards Wales.
