Thought you might like to see a picture of my walking companions from the Kirkstone pass walk. From left to right Gary, me, David and Brian. They are all joining me at some point in my walk, Gary joins me first when I reach Crainlarich and he stays with me until I reach Bearsden, then Gary swaps with David and he stays until we reach Carlisle. By now it will be Tuesday 1st July and Brain joins and walks from Carlisle to Natland.
This challenge is my longest walk yet: To walk from John O'Groats to Lands End, 1,200 miles in aid of two worthy causes. 1. 'New Hope Ashton' - A charity which helps people coming off addictions of various kinds and generally wanting to improve their lives. 2. Projects providing fresh water by sinking water wells in the third world.

Enjoyed the walk across Kirkstone Pass and had a good training day in the Lake District, very wet but good practice. Met a nice guy called Ian manager of The Queenshead hotel Troutbeck who has kindly sponsored a twin room for my brother Brian and myself on July 3rd during my end to end walk. I have also had a good conversation with Dave Moran from Helmsdale confirming my overnight stay with him in June and he has also kindly offered to help with the previous night, thanks Dave. In addition to this I've spoken to Richard Wood from Cambuslang by phone and he has also offered overnight stay at his home. There have been many others who have offered help along the way and you'll hear about them sometime during my walk. Thanks to all you generous people.

Thursday 16th Jan
Done a few short walks this week with my brother Brian (and dog), all good practice although today walking the canal was very muddy to say the least.
Thanks to Marc up in North Scotland for offering me and my wife accommodation the day before we set off on 'The Walk' Spoke to your mum and Dad this morning Marc and told them we had arranged this.
Also thanks to Chris West from Hilary Park B&B Clovelly North Devon who has also agreed to sponsor me a night's accommodation. This sounds like a lovely place to stay if anyone is looking for a holiday.
I have arranged with my local Asda to have a couple of days publicity in the store in a few weeks. Our lodger Jack is putting information on face book about how we're doing. Thanks Jack!

Happy New Year to everyone.
Am starting now in earnest to get organised.
Thanks to Tearfund, for the parcel that arrived just before Christmas with a t-shirt and other promotional items and information, most useful.
I am continuing to contact people concerning sponsorship for overnight accommodation and at present am looking along the Offas Dyke area. By and large I am very pleased with the positive response I am getting, particularly from churches along the route.
